The National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music is a residential centre, with pupils from outside the Plockton High School catchment area boarding during the school week and music weekends when required.

In addition to accommodating the students of the Music School, during the school week the Plockton High School Residence provides accommodation for those pupils of the High School who live too far away to travel on a daily basis.

Pupils share recreational facilities and common rooms, but sleep in separate boys and girls accommodation blocks.

The Residence is normally closed every weekend apart from the 13 Music Weekends, which are spread throughout the year. A calendar of open weekends and key events is issued during the Induction Week in June, so that students can plan their weekend arrangements in advance if required.

When the residence in closed, pupils are free to return home for the weekend, or it may be necessary for them to arrange alternative accommodation in conjunction with parents/carers.

Students in the Residence will come into contact with several staff teams:

1) Residence manager: Mrs Shona McGuiness

2) Residence ‘Houseparents’ who look after students on a day to day basis.
3) Cooks, kitchen and cleaning assistants.

We aim to make the residence as akin to home as possible and operate an open-door policy whereby parents and family are welcome at any time, and to work as a team to promote residence life as a caring and rewarding experience for everyone.
